The difference between the Mach-E’s standard-range and extended-range models is the battery capacity and the resulting driving range. I Was torn between the standard-range and extended-range models. On the one hand, the standard-range model was more affordable, but on the other hand, the extended-range model offered so much more driving range. After weighing the pros and cons, I chose the extended-range model. Although it was more expensive, I felt it would be worth it in the long run, given my driving needs,  and I live in an area with few charging stations, so the extended range would give me more flexibility and peace of mind I’m happy with my choice and feel confident it was the right one.

The battery can charge at a maximum rate of 150 kW, and it has a range of 250 miles on a full charge. In terms of performance, it has a top speed of 111 mph and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds.

It’s designed for drivers who want a more affordable option and who don’t mind stopping more often to charge the battery. In terms of price, the standard range is now up to $4000 cheaper than before, depending on the variant of the Mach-E (see table below). The standard-range model is well-suited for drivers with shorter commutes and doesn’t need the extra range or performance of the extended-range model.

The starting price of the standard-range Mach E is $43,895, making it a very affordable option for anyone looking to buy an electric vehicle. While cheaper than the extended-range model, it still offers many benefits. For example, it has all of the standard safety features of the Mach-E, including lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, and blind-spot monitoring. Overall, the standard-range model is excellent for someone who wants an electric vehicle that’s both affordable and well-equipped.

The Extended Range Model

The extended-range models use larger battery packs that typically have capacities of around 98 kWh. This can result in driving ranges of up to 300 miles on a single charge. It’s important to note that these driving ranges are based on EPA testing and may vary in real-world conditions. Conditions like temperature and driving style can affect the actual range.

The extended-range models may have improved acceleration, such as 0–60 mph times of around 4.5 seconds and higher top speeds. The increased power and torque from the larger battery packs can allow for quicker acceleration and higher speeds.

The extended-range models may also have more advanced motors and inverters that can provide better efficiency and performance. The increased range and performance come with added weight, which can result in a heavier, more planted feel on the road, which may be preferable to some drivers, but others may prefer the more elegant feel of the standard-range models.

There are increased vehicle prices and high maintenance costs as vehicles have more complex systems and components. Another factor to consider is the cost of charging; the extended-range models require more energy, which may result in higher electricity demand.

However, the extended-range models offer increased flexibility and range, which may be worth the trade-offs for some drivers.
