Grizzl-E vs. Juicebox: Which is the Better Charger?

Grizzl-E-vs-Juicebox

The biggest difference between the Grizzl-E and Juicebox is the charging amperage and connectivity features. The Juicebox comes in 32, 40, and 48amps, all of which are smart chargers that have WiFi connectivity, while the Grizzl-E only comes in a 40-amp but in 2 versions: Classic (No WiFi) or Smart (WiFi connectivity & Smartphone app).

If you want a 32-Amp charger with WiFi connectivity, the JuiceBox is your best bet. But if you want a 40-Amp charger with smart connectivity, the second version of the Grizzl-E level 2 charger.

However, if you want an absolute beast that charges your vehicle in 3 hours or less, the Juicebox 48 is your best bet. Also, if you’re curious about the Juicebox 75 amp charger, it was discontinued in 2021.

My neighbor has the 32-amp JuiceBox, and it works just fine. But after seeing the Grizzle-E Duo 40-Amp, it became apparent that that was my charger. The major selling point was the fact that it could charge two EVs at the same time. The cable was twice as thick as my regular charger, and after extensively reading reviews, I realized its durability was equally unmatched. I chose this instead of the JuiceBox because I don’t care much for insanely fast charging. I leave my Mach-E plugged in overnight most times and that works just fine for me.

In this article, I’ll explore the differences between these charging stations and how their varying charging speeds impact your charging experience.

Product Overview of Both Chargers

Here’s a comprehensive guide of both chargers and all their features.

Compatibility of the Grizzl-E

The Grizzl-E EV home chargers are compatible with all EV models as long as they can charge with a J1772 charge plug, which most EVs today have, other than Teslas. However, Teslas come with an adapter, so you can still charge your Tesla.

The Grizzl-E charger is adaptable and can be used with most home electrical systems. It also has customizable power output levels, though, unlike most other home EV chargers, you’ll need to remove the front cover of the charger and adjust the DIP switches – the series of switches in a single unit – manually. You can specify the power output setting (16A, 24A, 32A, or 40A) that initially want it set to.

The Juicebox and Grizzl-e offer connectivity options and smart features to enhance your charging experience.

It is important to note that the Grizzl-E EV charger comes in two models: the standard model and the smart model. The standard model is not connected to the Internet and offers no smart features. The smart model, however, is connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi and offers several smart features.

My Opinion

I chose the Grizzl-E Duo because I wanted a durable and reliable charger that could charge two electric vehicles at the same time. The Grizzl-E Duo has a thicker cable and a more rugged construction than the JuiceBox, and it also has a longer warranty. I also didn’t need the fastest charging speed, as I am happy to leave my cars plugged in overnight. Overall, I am very happy with my choice of the Grizzl-E Duo.

Here are some additional details about my decision:

  • I wanted a charger that could handle the cold weather in my area. The Grizzl-E Duo has an IP67 rating, which means it can withstand water and dust.
  • I wanted a charger that was easy to install. The Grizzl-E Duo is designed to be easy to install, even for DIYers.
  • I wanted a charger that was backed by a good warranty. The Grizzl-E Duo comes with a 5-year warranty.
