When I first got my Mach E, I was excited about reducing my carbon footprint and enjoying the benefits of quiet, efficient driving. However, I quickly realized that the convenience of charging was a crucial factor in my overall satisfaction as an EV owner. So, I decided to do some quick research on charging stations, knowing that a high-quality charger could greatly affect my daily routine.

I purchased the Clipper Creek HCS-50 40A Level 2 Charger two weeks later. However, one small issue bothered me: the inability to monitor my car’s charging progress through a convenient mobile app. Initially, I thought it wasn’t a big deal and that I could adapt over time. But, as it turns out, I was wrong.

I soon became frustrated with the charger and started looking for an alternative. After hours of research, I stumbled upon the Grizzl-E charger. It had a sleek and futuristic design, offered rapid charging, and, most importantly, featured the app-based monitoring I desired. Moreover, they had a duo version, allowing me to charge two EVs simultaneously. This might not be a big deal for some, but it was a significant advantage with three EVs in my family. While ClipperCreek also had a dual charger, it was priced at more than twice the cost of the Grizzl-E, making it a deal-breaker for me.

  1. Install the junction box (ensure to follow all local building guides and codes).
  2. Using a single wall stud, use two screws to attach the unit to the wall and two more for the holster.
  3. Connect the wires correctly in the junction box.
